P2 - Explain different uses of animation
Advertising – Animation is used in advertising because
people just think of a advert of real life events that can just happen to
anyone, but using animation can show things that real life advertise cannot do.
For example the Toy Story sky advert they use animation in this advert to
create a bit of humour because of the little green aliens. They start this
advert by all of the characters on the internet at the same time and this
animation in the advert gives an indication to people how slow the internet can
be when everyone is on it at the same time. The animation used in this advert
appeals to all ages especially families. This is because most families may have
watched Toy Story, the advert would appeal to the children because of the film
and they might enjoy it and it would appeal to the parents because of the
internet service provider (ISP) they would like to be with.
Creative arts – Animation in creative arts is used to create
a wider sense of imagination from the artists perspective. Artists like to do
this because they create new ideas and art work. A good example who uses
animation as a creative medium is Warner Brothers and their TV show Looney
Tunes. Warner Brothers created this in the early 1940’s till the late 1950’s.
Looney Tunes were originally drew on storyboards in the late 1930’s.
Entertainment – A good example of a film that uses animation
is the polar express. This is because the animation used in films like this is
to create the effect of real life human movement. this has help the developers
of this film because they have made three films it has made it a lot easier and
a lot faster to make the films. Animation is used all throughout the film such
as the human movements such as the walking of the characters, their mouths
moving whilst talking. Animation is used to make the characters look realistic
and not controlled by pieces of string. This film is a good example of how
animation can be used because in the film tom hanks is the train conductor and
the animation techniques can make him look a lot like the real Tom Hanks.
Education – The use of animation in education enables people
to understand things better for example watching educational videos online.
This helps school children with their understanding on what they are learning
about. Also animation can be used in a variety of different ways to help. Animation
can also be used to get a certain point across for example PowerPoint,
animation is used in PowerPoint to not only make it look better and more
professional, the animation within PowerPoint can also get a point across.
Simulation – Animation in simulation can be used in
different ways (work and training) purposes. A good example of simulation is
the formula 1 simulators the teams have at their different bases all over the
country. This is a good example because the new drivers for the teams can use
this to get a feel for what I feels like driving the car and also get a feel
for how life will be when they are actually out there racing. They use this so
when the young driver or experienced driver gets in the simulator and the
settings and the technology are all controlled so as the drivers are using the
simulator there driving gets tracked on loads of different computer so when
they are done they can look how well or badly they’ve done to see if they need
to make any improvements to the car or their driving.
